Passenger transportation will be calculated according to a new tariff

On March 1, a government decision on a new methodology for calculating tariffs for road passenger transportation on regular routes in inter-district and district communication came into force.

Now road carriers will be able to justify fares by their real costs, rather than working according to rigidly set figures. As a result, the cost of tickets may increase by 20%, and in some cases by 40%.

As Logos Press wrote earlier, the methodology allows operators to set their own fares on regular routes. Exceeding the maximum tariff is possible only if the actual cost of servicing a route is not covered by the current tariff. The calculation includes administrative and operating costs (oils, filters, tires, brakes, etc.), repair and depreciation costs, insurance, technical inspection and other costs, except for fuel, drivers’ salaries and bus station fees.

Each carrier is obliged to place an announcement in vehicles indicating the effective tariff. The application is controlled by the National Road Transport Agency on inter-district routes and by district councils on district routes.

It should be noted that the old methodology was in effect since 2007.
