The Secretariat of the Legislature announced the launch of the public procurement procedure for video cameras, software and specialized equipment for online broadcasting. It is about updating the equipment installed 13 years ago, which no longer meets the current requirements for transparency and quality of broadcasting.
The modernization will affect the Plenary Hall, the Europa Hall, where important meetings are held, including with international delegations, as well as the rooms where meetings of standing committees, public consultations and other parliamentary events are held. The total sum of investments amounts to 2,073,336 lei. The financing, as noted by the parliament’s press service, is fully provided by Switzerland.
The renewal of the equipment will make it possible to expand the number of rooms where live broadcasts are possible. At present, only half of the rooms where the permanent commissions work are technically equipped for online broadcasting. However, interest in such broadcasts is steadily growing: in 2025 alone, the total duration of live parliamentary broadcasts exceeded 307 hours.
The initiative is part of the Roadmap for the Functioning of Democratic Institutions and is aimed at increasing the transparency of the legislative process and harmonizing national practices with the EU acquis.
The support is provided within the framework of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation project “Strengthening Parliamentary Democracy in the Republic of Moldova (PADEM)”, which is implemented by DAI Global Belgium in the period from April 2025 to March 2029.
It should be noted that in the previous convocation, the parliament held 172 plenary sessions with a total duration of about 1,100 hours, all of which were broadcast online on Facebook and YouTube.
