The politician emphasized this during the round table where she announced a new initiative – the civic movement “Construim ÎnCREDere”. The movement declared its intention to become a social platform for a constructive dialog on the topic of Moldova’s European integration.
The initiative brings together experts and activists from the country and the diaspora and aims to support Moldova’s European course and contribute to its greater transparency, with a clear explanation of costs and benefits, as well as the real involvement of citizens in decision-making.
The roundtable participants warned about the risk of excessive politicization of the European integration process and the need for tangible results for citizens. Without concrete benefits, they risk losing interest in it, said Olesya Stamate.
The event was attended by experts from Moldova and abroad – Igor Bocan (ADEPT), Inna Virtosu, Doru Petruzi (IMAS), former Economics Minister Octavian Calmic, former MP, chairman of the commission for economy. Budget and Finance Commission, Veaceslav Ionita (IDIS Viitorul), former State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice Nicolae Eşanu, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of the State University Alexandru Solcan and others.
They emphasized the need for a real dialogue between the government, the civil sector and pro-European forces. Otherwise, there is a risk of splitting the society, where integration is perceived as a project of elites, not of all citizens.
The discussions also touched upon the lessons learned by the new members of the Commonwealth in the process of European integration. In particular, Jan Truszczyński, former chief negotiator for Poland’s accession to the European Union, described in detail the preparations for this step.
