
The events were organized under the auspices of SELEC (South-Eastern Europe Law Enforcement Centre) with the participation of the Border Police, Customs Service and the General Inspectorate of Police of Moldova.
According to the Customs Service, the operation was conducted in two stages – from March 9 to 17 and from March 23 to 27. Control activities were carried out at border crossing points, at the Chisinau International Airport, as well as in other strategic zones. The checks revealed attempts to illegally move money, as well as valuables, including precious metals, jewelry, watches and other expensive items.
At the end of the two stages of the operation, money and material values worth over 10.2 million lei were seized from the illegal circulation. The authorities note that the results of the operation testify to the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation and confirm Moldova’s commitment to combating cross-border crime and trafficking in valuables.
