The announcement was made in Munich at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popşoi and his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide, the press service of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said.
The foreign ministers said that the opening of a permanent diplomatic mission in Chisinau marks the deepening of the Moldovan-Norwegian relations and the interest of the two countries in closer cooperation in the fields of mutual interest.
The new embassy will contribute to a better implementation of joint projects and intensification of cooperation in sectors such as energy, sustainability, good governance and support for Moldova’s European course.
In continuation of the dialog, a note verbale on the establishment of the diplomatic mission was handed over to the State Secretary of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Karolina Perebinos.
At present, Norway is accredited in Moldova through the embassy in Bucharest, while a territorial representation office, opened last year, operates in Chisinau.
Diplomatic relations between Moldova and Norway were established in 1992.
