“Of course, we have a common history, a common culture, but Moldova is now an independent state. Inside Moldova, a third of the population wants reunification with Romania, a third of the population is somewhat pro-Russian, and the remaining part, the middle class, wants to keep Moldova as it is, as an independent state,” Euronews quoted the Romanian president as saying.
According to him, as president of Romania, he should respect the decision of citizens.
“As you know, in 1918 the unification of Romania and Moldova took place, and in 2018 the Romanian parliament met and the Romanian parliament unanimously said that if at any time Moldova wants to join Romania, Romania will be ready. This is the answer,” Nicusor Dan added.
