Such data is provided by the Bureau of Reintegration Policy, referring to the data of the State Register of Vehicles. As noted, compared to 2024, the growth amounted to 12% (+1470 units of transport to 12206 units last year).
The process of primary registration of vehicles at registration points was resumed in August 2024, after a pause caused by the blockage by Tiraspol, which unilaterally withdrew from the mechanism at the end of December 2021.
As noted by the Bureau of Reintegration Policy, the mechanism of registration with neutral license plates does not replace the main process, widely used by residents of the Transnistrian region, of registration with national license plates. At the same time, this mechanism is temporary and creates the necessary prerequisites for a single national registration, monitoring in national and international road traffic and compliance with the requirements of the current legal framework by vehicle drivers residing in a perimeter temporarily uncontrolled by constitutional authorities.
“Access to the international road traffic of these categories of vehicles is allowed only on condition of clear identification of the state of the Republic of Moldova (presence of an emblem with the inscription “MD” on the back of the vehicle) and the driver’s possession of national or international documents (driver’s license, valid passport, civil liability insurance policy of vehicle owners, etc.),” the Bureau of Reintegration Policies said in a statement.
