“The money we receive from the European Union means first of all investments, energy, water, services for our citizens, for children and support for young people. And another very important point – they mean that Moldova fulfills its commitments and our European partners trust us, and we continue to show results,” Munteanu said at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
He called the allocation of the second tranche “very good news”, which crowned the implementation of 24 reforms: “This is 92% – a record for our group of countries undergoing the accession process.”
Munteanu recalled his meeting with IMF representatives on Monday, March 16. According to the prime minister, the report on Moldova presented by the fund was “very favorable for Moldova”.
“We are moving in all directions. Of course, there is still a lot to be done in this difficult context, but we will manage,” the prime minister said.
As Logos Press previously wrote, the European Commission announced on March 17 the allocation of 189 million euros within the Reform and Growth Mechanism. Of this amount, 173 million euros will go directly to the state budget, while 16 million euros will be used to support projects within the Neighbourhood Investment Platform. The allocated funds are an additional tranche to the 289 million euros granted to Moldova in 2025.
