The acquisition includes CaraprodVin’s core winemaking platform and wine production facilities located in Varstecoiu, as well as 33.18 hectares of vineyards in the Vrancea wine region, Purcari Wineries [BSE:WINE] said in a filing to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
The deal, the value of which was not disclosed, will be finalized after meeting standard legal and regulatory requirements.
“Vrancea is Romania’s largest wine region, known for its strong white grape varieties and unique terroir. This acquisition marks Crama Ceptura’s first operational presence in the region, providing direct access to high quality local grapes and complementing the Group’s recent expansion in Dialu Mare,” Purcari Wineries said in a statement.
In February, Purcari said it had submitted a binding offer to fully acquire Serve Ceptura, a Romanian company operating in the Dyalu-Mare wine region.
Purcari Wineries, founded in 1827, operates approximately 2,000 hectares of vineyards and seven production sites in Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria. According to its own statement, the company is the leader in Romania’s premium wine segment and the largest exporter of wine from Moldova, supplying products to more than 40 countries.
Blue-chip Purcari Wineries shares closed Friday on the Bucharest bourse with a 3.21% rise to 19.3 Romanian lei (US$4.37/3.79 euros/76.58 Moldovan lei) per share.
