Moldovans prefer other regions to the countries in the epicenter of the armed conflict.
Choice when canceling
According to Victoria Soltan, director of the travel agency, those who cancel their reservations or whose tours have been canceled by foreign operators have the right to get a refund.
“For known reasons, airlines or hotels cannot fulfill their obligations to serve tourists. With the help of the agency, citizens can return the funds in full or buy a new tour and go to another destination. At the moment we are in touch with seven families in Emirates,” said an industry representative quoted by TVR Moldova.
Transit difficulties
According to the chairman of the National Association of Economic Agents in Tourism, Ion Alexa, a request to cancel tours can also be submitted by tourists whose journey is transiting through the UAE.
“We have information about 16 of our nationals in the Philippines, 26 in the Maldives, 10 in Qatar, six in Tanzania and five on the island of Sri Lanka who are transiting through Dubai airport. Partners on the other side, including airlines, are open to cancel tours and tickets without any problems,” he emphasized.
Recommendations to Moldovan citizens
More than a hundred Moldovan citizens remain in the Middle East, who cannot leave the region.
The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier issued a communiqué with recommendations for compatriots staying in the attacked countries of the Persian Gulf region. Tourists should avoid crowded places, public events, stay away from government buildings, military facilities, places where law enforcement agencies are stationed, take shelter in the house and follow the recommendations of local authorities.
