The State Services Agency specifies that the production and issuance of the document on an urgent basis is performed for a fee according to the established tariffs. Obtaining a certificate on the day of application will cost 1160 lei, production in 1 working day – 940 lei, in 5 days – 730 lei, and in 10 working days – 510 lei.
At the same time, the first million identity cards will be issued free of charge to citizens who request the document for the first time, within a maximum of 20 working days.
The new identity cards are issued to Moldovan citizens who have reached the age of 14. At the request of the legal representative, the document may be issued even before reaching this age. Obtaining a new document is not mandatory for persons who already have a valid identity card.
The validity of identity cards will vary depending on the age of the holder: 4 years – for persons aged 0 to 7 years; 7 years – from 7 to 14 years; 10 years – from 14 to 70 years. After reaching the age of 70, the validity of the document is not limited.
Since the introduction of the new ID card, 18,900 ID cards have been issued to date, of which 2,872 have been issued to persons under the age of 18 and 16,031 to persons with full authorization. Of these, about 70% (11,229 persons) have requested and received an identity card with an electronic signature.
