The upcoming championship will have a record prize fund – $8.3 million, which is 60% more compared to the world championship in 2024. At that time, $5.2 mln was raffled off in the boxing rings in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
The winners of the competition in each of the 13 weight categories will receive $300,000, silver medalists – $150,000, bronze medalists – $75,000, and fourth place winners – $10,000. Boxers themselves will receive 50% of the sum, while coaches and national specialized federations will receive 25% each.
Moldova will be represented by eight athletes (see table). Three athletes will represent the capital’s boxing school, two each from the villages of Grimencauti and Tiraspol, and one from Balti.
Boxers from 120 countries will compete for world championship medals. Two-time Olympic champion Julio La Cruz (Cuba) and silver medalist of the 2024 Olympics Lauren Alfonso Dominguez, competing under the flag of Azerbaijan, are expected to take part.
