The annual Moldova Eco Energetică competition, organized by the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED), was an incentive to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. The event brought together government officials, diplomats, experts, company representatives and media to recognize the achievements of those who are accelerating the green transition.
“This year will be the year of accelerating the energy transition in Moldova,” said Energy Minister Dorin Jungietu during the gala. – More than a quarter of the energy consumed in Moldova comes from renewable sources, and investments in this area are growing. This year, we are planning to hold a second tender for the purchase of 170 MW of green wind power. But green transition means not only green energy production, but also energy efficiency”.
“Beyond the need to increase clean energy production, the most important thing is to provide it affordably and predictably. For this, we must invest in storage and balancing,” emphasized Radu Marian, Chairman of the Parliament’s Commission for Economy, Budget and Finance.
And Ion Muntean, Director of CNED, emphasized the merits of those who develop and implement such projects. “More than 40 thousand families have already received low utility bills thanks to the replacement of equipment with energy efficient ones within the FEERM program,” he said. – And residents of apartment buildings will soon be able to benefit from reduced costs and increased comfort thanks to energy rehabilitation. In total, the public sector has mobilized more than 400 million euros for energy efficiency measures in educational and health care institutions”.
