The initiative is implemented within the framework of the National Health Strategy “Sănătatea 2030”, which envisages the reform of the health care system, including through the regionalization of specialized diagnostic and treatment services.

According to the strategy, the priorities are investments in the creation of two regional hospitals, in the north and south of the country, as well as the redistribution of specialized medical services, including stroke treatment, cancer care and cardiology.

Special attention is paid to training the necessary number of medical personnel to work in the renewed system.

The reorganization is expected to improve the quality of care, reduce delays in service delivery and improve prognosis in acute conditions. The approach is based on the “golden hour” principle, according to which timely treatment in the first hours significantly affects the outcome for the patient.

Overall, investments of over 600 million lei are envisaged for the realization of the goals set by the Ministry of Health in 2026.
