Amendments to the regulations of the existing program for the development of local communities were introduced by the government this week. Young entrepreneurs will be able to count on support in starting a business not only in agriculture, but also in tourism, green energy, health care or social services.
The approved amendments establish a range of financing from 2 to 4 million lei per community, compared to the previous maximum limit of 3 million lei. At the same time, the maximum amount of support for one project was increased from 40,000 to 50,000 lei.
The money comes from the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment, approved annually by the Law on State Budget, as well as from funds provided by development partners.
The LEADER program is aimed at the development of localities belonging to local groups of regional communities. Currently, there are 54 local regional groups in the country, covering more than 61% of the country’s territory and uniting 513 administrative-territorial units with a total population of about 1.14 million people. Thanks to these associations, more than 1,400 local projects have been implemented in recent years alone.
