The Wall Street Journal reported this week that Bezos went on a tour of the Middle East a few months ago and recently visited Singapore to raise money from local foundations to fund a startup called Project Prometheus. The specially created fund will be used to buy ready-made companies engaged in the production of semiconductor components, weapons and aerospace products. Their internal processes will then be optimized through the active implementation of AI in order to increase productivity in product manufacturing. A total of $100 billion is planned to be raised in this fund.

Jeff Bezos recently became one of the two current CEOs of Project Prometheus, a startup that develops AI-based digital twin models for manufacturing companies. The fund will be used to buy such companies, and the startup will share core technologies to optimize operations with deep AI implementation. Blue Origin CEO Davis Limp recently joined the startup’s board of directors. The first of the companies was founded by Bezos in 2000 and is now competing with Elon Musk’s SpaceX for contracts with the U.S. aerospace agency for missions to the moon and Mars.

“Physical AI” – what is it and what is it for?

Project Prometheus is now trying to raise $6 billion for its own needs. The sphere of “physical AI”, which involves the use of these technologies for automating production, creating robots and autopilot systems, is now considered promising in terms of investment, since the competition in the field of generative AI is already quite large.

Amazon itself is also betting heavily on robots, with plans to eventually align their numbers with its staff. Bezos stepped down from Amazon, which he founded, in July 2021, though he remains chairman of the company’s board of directors. Last year, he took the helm of a startup called Project Prometheus. This company is going to offer customers software to simulate the testing of physical systems and devices.

For example, it can be used to test a digital twin of an airplane for structural strength. In addition to Bezos, the staff of Project Prometheus includes people from OpenAI and Google. Last year, the startup managed to raise $6.2 billion for its development. Institutional investors like JPMorgan Chase are interested in investing in Project Prometheus.
