The Clock’s design is inspired by a classic pocket watch, with the usual hands replaced by a light display. According to Balmuda founder Gen Terao, the idea came from personal experience: he often used his tablet to play the sounds of rain before going to bed, but the bright screen interfered with his rest. The Clock solves this problem by giving the user a Relax Time mode that plays seven specially recorded ambient tracks, including the sounds of rain, rivers gurgling and firewood crackling.
The device also features a 1-60 minute timer with white noise for concentration, and the built-in alarm clock works on the principle of gentle wake-up – the sound gradually increases three minutes before the set time. All functions are controlled via the Balmuda Connect app via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, allowing you to remotely customize modes and control the device.
The case is made of a solid block of aluminum, which makes The Clock weighs only 250 grams, but looks more massive. Powered via USB-C, a single charge is enough for about a day. The set includes a fabric case for convenient carrying, for example, during business trips.
The price of the novelty is 59,400 yen (≈323 euros), which positions it in the segment of premium accessories for home and office. The Clock is a combination of functional design and modern technologies focused on creating a comfortable environment for sleep and concentration, which makes it an interesting offer in the market of devices for smart home and personal well-being.
