This is reported by the Ministry of Energy following the opening of applications by the Committee for the Award of Large Qualified Producer Status (2025-2026) established by Government Resolution No. 176/2025.
The ministry’s information emphasizes that the number of applications was twice as high as in a similar tender held in 2024-2025. This emphasizes the significant interest of investors in the development of renewable energy in Moldova.
The parameters proposed by investors for both generation and energy storage are significantly higher than the values put up for auction, the ministry emphasized.
The tender is aimed at the construction of wind power plants with a total capacity of 170 MW, and for the first time provides for the mandatory installation of energy storage systems with a capacity of 44 MWh. The introduction of this component is an important step towards strengthening energy security and increasing the flexibility of the national energy system.
The Commission meeting was held in the presence of observers from civil society and the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, which ensured the transparency of the process.
The Commission decided to temporarily suspend the meeting to request additional information necessary for the evaluation of the bids. The examination of the applications will resume once the answers are received and the investors will be informed in advance about the date, time and place of the continuation of the procedure.
