According to ndtv.com journalists, the man was in a closed bag and began to suffocate, after which the company’s employees decided to open the shipment.
“Experiment for the sake of content”
As it is specified, the initiator of what was happening was the man’s daughter, who planned to publish the video on social networks. According to her, the idea was to “show an alternative way of travel” against the background of problems with transportation and tickets.
Delivery staff suspected something amiss because of the unusual parameters of the shipment and the woman’s behavior while placing the order. After opening the bag, they found an elderly man inside who was conscious but showing clear signs of shortness of breath.
“We decided to check the contents because the parcel seemed suspicious,” the courier service employees reasoned.
Reaction and possible consequences
The incident quickly went viral on Indian social media and sparked a widespread discussion about the boundaries of acceptable content for the sake of views.
Local authorities are studying the circumstances of the incident and may give a legal assessment of the woman’s actions, as it is a potential threat to human life, the publication notes.
Experts note that such cases are becoming increasingly frequent amid growing competition for attention in the digital environment, where users seek to create the most shocking content.
