
Some of the former ministers may retain their posts, and a session of parliament to hear the candidate and consider the government’s program is scheduled for Friday, October 31.
On Tuesday, October 28, Natalia Plougarou, an expert in the field of social policies and protection of vulnerable categories of population, was proposed for the post of Minister of Labor and Social Protection. Gheorghe Hajder, currently State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, has been proposed for the post of Minister of Environment.
Munteanu expressed gratitude to former Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu for “accepting the position of Secretary General of the State Chancellery”.
“Together, we will ensure the efficient work of every state structure for the benefit of citizens, in order to realize the necessary reforms and move towards our accession to the European Union,” Munteanu wrote on social media.
Earlier, prime ministerial candidate Alexandru Munteanu presented Emil Ceban as a candidate for Health Minister, Vladislav Cojuhari as Justice Minister, Cristian Jardan as Culture Minister, Eugen Osmokescu as Economic Development and Digitalization Minister and Andrian Gavrilice as Finance Minister.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said in an interview with TV8 that on Friday, October 31, the parliament will hear the prime ministerial candidate Alexandru Munteanu and will consider his program and the composition of the government. However, there is no official decision to convene the meeting yet.
Until then, Munteanu continues a series of public consultations to finalize the government’s program. He has discussed with representatives of agricultural associations the need for a modern and sustainable agricultural sector, investment in new technologies and improved irrigation systems. With labor unions, he discussed workers’ rights, reducing informal employment, raising wages, and vocational training to adapt the workforce to the demands of a modern economy. With civil society representatives discussed transparent and inclusive governance, judicial reforms, economic development, energy security, youth opportunities, rights of people with disabilities, tourism development and environmental policy.
In addition, Munteanu met with representatives of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM) to discuss the reform of local self-government, strengthening autonomy and attracting professionals to the administration. The key issues discussed during the meeting were: local administration reform, access to funds, decentralization, urban development, increasing incomes and professionalism of human resources, reducing bureaucracy and supporting small settlements.
“Mayors and local authorities are key partners of the government in implementing public policies and taking advantage of EU opportunities. Together, through the Parity Commission and working groups, we will continue to increase their readiness to effectively attract and manage European funds,” Alexandru Munteanu said.
