Russia remains the main market, accounting for about 95% of Georgian apple exports. Small volumes were also sold to Turkey, Armenia, Belarus, Iraq and Kazakhstan, Newsgeorgia.ge writes.
The Ministry emphasizes the need to diversify exports, taking into account changes in the structure of demand on international markets and the risks of high dependence on one direction. Countries of the Middle East – Saudi Arabia and UAE, North Africa (Egypt), India, as well as Central Asian states are named as promising markets for Georgian apples.
As Georgia Online portal notes with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture, the total value of Georgian agro-products exports in 2025 exceeded $1.8 billion, which is 9.9% more than in 2024.
The main importers last year were Russia ($700.7 million, 20.8% share), China ($301.9 million) and Turkey ($298.8 million). Bulgaria ($235.1 million), Armenia ($197.2 million), Azerbaijan ($177.9 million), the United States ($106.3 million) and Kazakhstan ($91.5 million) are also in the top 10.
The growth of production and development of technologies create real prerequisites for increasing exports and expanding the geography of supplies, according to the specialized ministry. At the same time, entering new markets requires compliance with phytosanitary, quality and logistical requirements, as well as the establishment of direct commercial contacts.
The state, in turn, intends to support exporters through the development of phytosanitary system, trade agreements and provision of market information, the ministry said in its review.
