This testify data from the International Monetary Fund.

Is it a lot or a little?

It is very little, if we take in absolute figures, the increase amounted from $448.06 to $8,240, the researchers note, but the dynamics is impressive.

Moldova’s indicators can be compared with the 15 largest world economies.

China is on the first place, where the GDP per capita increased by 1430%, from $1000 to $14 700. Russia is in the second place. There the growth amounted to 811% – from $1,900 to $17,300. In third place is India with an increase of 589%, from $400 to $3,100, which is much less in absolute numbers than in Moldova.

In the United States, GDP per capita has almost tripled over the years, from $36,300 to $92,900.

In Germany – approximately the same growth, from $24,200 to $63,600. In general, in developed European countries, the growth of the indicator for a quarter of a century amounted to more than 100%.

And only Japan, the only developed country in the world, registered a 7% decrease, from $39,200 to $36,400.

Our neighbors

In Romania, GDP per capita in 2026 is $23.77 thousand, in Ukraine – $6.72 thousand.

Such states as Belize, Colombia, Equatorial Guinea and Jamaica have approximately the same GDP per capita as Moldova.

And this, in principle, is not the lowest level. The average indicator for developing states, which includes Moldova, is $7.36 thousand.

However, for developed economies this figure is $65.07 thousand, and the world average is almost twice as high as the Moldovan one – $15.28 thousand.
