Against this background, the level of filling of storage facilities in the largest gas consumers – Germany and France – fell below 50% by mid-winter. Under these conditions, Russian pipeline gas supplies via Turkish Stream in the European direction have increased by 10.76% since the beginning of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. According to ENTSOG platform data for the Strandzha-2/Malkochlar gas metering station on the border of Turkey and Bulgaria, the physical gas flow for the gas day on January 11, 2026 amounted to 53.36 million m3, on January 12 the preliminary agreed volume increased to 54.03 million m3.

In this regard, neftegaz.ru recalls that according to the results of 2025, 17.6 billion m3 of gas was delivered to Europe via the Turkish Stream gas pipeline and its onshore continuation, which is 8.39% more than in January-December 2024.

Meanwhile, cold weather and snowfall will still dominate much of Europe in the coming days. Especially low temperatures are recorded in Scandinavia – in Finland, Sweden and Norway, temperatures around -30 °C have been set. In Central Europe, the temperature remains at -10 °C.

Weather forecasts for the coming days give warnings of low temperatures of yellow level for Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, Greece, orange level – for Germany, Austria, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro. Yellow level of snowfall was announced for France, Iceland, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, orange level – for Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Greece, red – for Germany.

According to meteorologists, warming in Europe will begin only after January 15.

Increased withdrawal of gas from underground storage under these conditions is starting to worry gas traders. As of January 10, 2026, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) data, there were 59.16 billion m3 of gas left in Europe’s underground storage facilities, which means that they were 54.88% full. Daily withdrawal volumes in recent days have been around 330 million m3 per day.

Against this background, February gas quotations at the TTF hub in the Netherlands on January 12 traded at 29.51 euros/MWh ($365.38 per 1000 m3). This is 4% higher than the previous day’s settlement prices.
