Foreign Ministry: Transit options for those who may leave Iran are limited

Commercial flights from Iran to Azerbaijan continue to operate, but transit options for persons who may leave Iran remain limited and require prior coordination with the competent authorities. This is reported by the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Embassy of Moldova in Baku constantly monitors the security developments in the Islamic Republic of Iran and liaises with the competent authorities and diplomatic partners to assess the situation.

The MFA urges Moldovan citizens in the region to follow the instructions of local authorities, avoid unnecessary travel, constantly check the status of flights directly with air carriers and keep in touch with Moldovan diplomatic missions.

Current updates are published on the official page of the embassy in Baku, while the full list of diplomatic missions and contact details are available on the MFA website.

The MFA also informs that the situation in Israel remains tense. The restrictions have been extended until March 14. Educational institutions are closed, meetings of up to 50 people are allowed. Commercial flights are carried out in a limited mode.

In the UAE the situation is stable. Services and infrastructure are operating as usual. On Monday, March 9, about 30 Moldovan citizens were evacuated through the European rescEU mechanism.

In Qatar, the airspace is partially open, flights are limited. Local authorities recommend avoiding non-essential travel.

In Turkey, airports are operating in normal mode. The country remains an important transit point for leaving the region.

The Foreign Ministry’s crisis group continues to monitor the security situation in the Middle East. According to the information available at the moment, there are no casualties among the citizens of the Republic of Moldova staying in the countries of the region. The embassies of the Republic of Moldova maintain direct contact with the citizens in the zone and provide consular assistance in accordance with the incoming requests.
