The discussion emphasized the contractors’ responsibility to adhere to the approved schedules and quality parameters so that the renovated yards become their “calling card”.
As Logos Press reported earlier, the works on the “European Yard” program were temporarily suspended in winter. At that time, the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM) specified that the suspension caused questions from citizens about the reasons for it, as well as about the situation at the construction sites opened in connection with the implementation of the program.
The ministry explained the downtime by the fact that some types of works, such as pouring concrete, laying sidewalk tiles or building playgrounds, cannot be carried out in compliance with all requirements at low temperatures. Frost would deteriorate the quality of construction and cause additional costs for subsequent repairs.
The program will be expanded to several cities
The program “European Yard” envisages modern arrangement of multi-storey yards in Chisinau and suburbs of the capital. Last year, 100 million lei was allocated from the state budget to renovate at least 4-5 yards in each sector of Chisinau and its suburbs.
The ceiling of funds per project was set at 5 million lei. At the end of November 2025, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolia said that the “European Yard” program will be extended to several cities from 2026. “European Courtyards” will appear in Cahul, Causeni, Hincesti and other cities.
According to the ministry, the program includes 57 courtyards in Chisinau, which are at different stages of implementation, while the expanded list includes 381 courtyards in the capital.
