According to Kosta, even in an emotional situation, such statements are unacceptable for the European Union. “We have very good relations with Ukraine and especially with President Zelensky. But, of course, we cannot accept when, even in an emotional moment, someone addresses the leader of a European Union member state in an inadequate manner,” he concluded.

According to RBC, in March, Zelensky said that the EU’s allocation of a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine was being blocked by “one person” and threatened to give his address to the Ukrainian military. His name was not mentioned.

Hungary vetoed the loan in late February. Orban said that Budapest would block the decision until the resumption of oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline.

Problems with Druzhba deliveries emerged in early 2026. Hungary and Slovakia accused Kiev of deliberate blocking, while the Ukrainian side said the pipeline was seriously damaged and needed repairs.

European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jorgensen said in mid-March that Ukraine had notified the European Commission about the start of repair work. According to him, the repairs are being carried out as quickly as possible.

At the same time, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that there were no obstacles to the resumption of supplies. He noted that a Hungarian delegation had spent several days in Kiev, but its proposals were rejected.
