The study visit of the European audit mission, headed by its representative Laima Andrikienė, is dedicated to familiarization with the Moldovan system of external assistance management. For the beneficiary countries of the European funds, the transparency of financial flows is an indispensable attribute of control. The meeting at the Finance Ministry in the context of the harmonization of the national and European systems of internal control of foreign assistance took place on 16 June.
During the discussion, special attention was paid to the current management of the European aid, efficiency of its use, reforms within the framework of the Economic Reform Program (ERP). Finance Minister Victoria Belous thanked the EU experts for backing Moldova, stressing the importance of this audit mission. She also reiterated Moldova’s commitment to transparency in the management of state and European funds.
Since October 2021, the EU has sent Moldova over one billion euros in loans and grants. For the next four years, the country will be able to have almost twice that amount under the government’s Development Plan. The last annual report of the Ministry of Finance on external assistance for Moldova is dated 2022.
