
The sales leader was Volkswagen with a result of 135,427 cars. According to Turkish Anadolu Agency, citing data from automotive data provider JATO Dynamics, 1,193,397 electric cars were sold in Europe in the first six months of 2025, up 25% year-on-year.
The share of electric vehicles in the European car market reached 17.4% during this period, an increase of 3.6 percentage points compared to the first half of 2024. The highest growth in the electric car market share was recorded in Denmark (+19 p.p.), as well as in Norway (+9.2), Belgium (+8), Finland (+7.2) and Austria (+5.6).
A high share of electric cars was recorded in the markets of Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland, while in Croatia, Slovakia, Romania, Poland and Italy the demand for electric cars remains the lowest.
At the end of the first half of 2025, Volkswagen maintained its leadership among brands, selling 135,427 electric cars – 78% more than in the same period in 2024. Second place went to Tesla, despite a 33% drop in sales, with 109,262 vehicles. Third place went to BMW, which increased sales by 15% to 94,658 electric cars.
