The most moderate price growth is observed in the mass segment – about 5-10%. Artisan products and the category of “fashionable” baked goods with non-standard ingredients rose in price more strongly: in some cases, the increase amounted to 25-30%.
The price range is approximately as follows. Budget cakes are offered from 28 to 60 lei, middle segment products – from 80 to 150 lei, while premium products sell for 250 to 485 lei.
The main reason is related to the rise in the price of basic ingredients (flour, eggs and butter), as well as to the increase in logistics and fuel costs.
The tone is set by the G8
The main supplies are provided by the Chisinau enterprises “Franzeluta”, “Colibri”, “Paninella”, “7 Spice”, “Bon Appetit”, as well as regional ones – “Balti Bread Factory” (Zernoff group), “Milina” (Taraclia) and “Brodetski” (Orhei). Their products actually form the offer in the country’s chain retail.
According to the Association of Bread Producers and Flour Makers of Moldova, the bakery sector of the country has about 300 enterprises, of which about two thirds are small businesses. Despite this, the market is largely consolidated around large players.
“Franzeluta” controls one third of the market
The same “Franzeluta” today controls about 30% of the market. Annual production reaches about 22 thousand tons, or about 60 tons per day. According to Logos Press, in 2026 “Franzeluta” forecasts Easter bakery sales of over 170 tons.
Other market players also note high demand. In particular, Milina plans to produce about 600 thousand units of Easter products. In addition to the traditional assortment, in 2026 the company introduced to the market a new line of panettone based on Italian recipes.
Producers will announce the results of the Easter season only next week, after the Radonitsa holiday.
