“I want to thank you for your involvement, for being constantly under the scrutiny of society, the press, the civil sector. It is this common effort together with society that has brought us to today,” Recean said in front of his colleagues.

The prime minister also said that Alexandru Munteanu was his university lecturer and played a key role in shaping his professional path.

“It was he who convinced me to choose electrophysics, although I was leaning towards mechanics. Then he said: “Dorin, the world is moving from atoms to bits,” Recean shared.

According to him, Munteanu will be able to give a new impetus to both the government and society – “necessary for the development of the economy.”

“His experience is particularly valuable in the context of the two key challenges ahead: security and justice reform – a healthy economy is built on this foundation. I am confident that we will be moving in the right direction from now on,” Recean concluded.

As a reminder, Dorin Recean announced in advance his resignation not only from the post of Prime Minister, but also from the Parliament after the validation of mandates and politics in general. The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), which won the majority in the new Parliament, plans to nominate Alexandru Munteanu for the post of Prime Minister.

“I have not been a public figure, but I understand how important it is to ensure transparency and openness to the public. At the same time, we must respect the established legal procedures: wait for the validation of the election results by the Constitutional Court, the convening of the new parliament and consultations with the president,” Munteanu commented on the decision.

It should be noted that the current government continues to fulfill its duties until the approval of the new Cabinet of Ministers, but with limited powers.
