
In August, compared to July, there was a decrease in average consumer prices by about 0.4%, including food (by 0.8%), non-food products (by 0.2%), services to the population (by 0.1%), according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
A more pronounced monthly decline in prices for the group of food products is noted for fruit – by 6.5%, vegetables – by 2.3%, sugar – by 0.8%. At the same time, average consumer prices for chicken eggs rose by about 11%.
In the group of non-food products in August this year, the most pronounced decrease in average consumer prices was recorded for fuel and motor fuel – by 1.2% (including diesel fuel – by 3.6%, gasoline – by 0.7%). At the same time, prices for ready-made garments increased by 0.6% and prices for construction materials by 0.3%.
In the sphere of services to the population in August, average prices decreased mainly due to the decrease in regulated tariffs for electricity – by 6.8%, which caused the decrease in average consumer prices by more than 0.2%. At the same time, average prices for public catering services increased by 1.8%.
Deflationary trends in August failed to bring inflation back into the acceptable range, although core inflation (excluding food, fuel and regulated prices) does not yet inspire concerns (4.4%). Over the last 12 months (August to August), average consumer prices have increased by more than 7.3%, including food products – by 8.5%, non-food products – by 2.2%, services to the population – by 13.1%.
