Acting on the basis of operational information, the officers of the mobile customs groups carried out checks in two places in the Orhei district, where the sites for dismantling vehicles were organized, the press service of the agency reported.
The vehicles were placed under temporary importation, which allows them to be used on the territory of the country for up to 180 days during 12 consecutive months without the right to alienate or dismantle them.
Failure to comply with the term of temporary importation entails sanctions for the violation, a fine of between 4,200 and 65,000 lei, depending on the exceeded term, for each vehicle, as well as the obligation to pay the corresponding import duties.
Persons who imported these vehicles and did not ensure compliance with the provisions of the customs regime are subject to sanctions, the Customs Service said.
The vehicles have been seized, the investigation continues to establish all the circumstances and identify the persons involved.
