“Most of these decorative trees for the winter holidays are Christmas trees, more than 30 thousand specimens. Also prepared for sale are 7.5 thousand pieces of pine and 20 – fir,” Agroexpert quoted deputy director of the agency Julian Mamai as saying. – To meet the preferences of citizens, pine and spruce branches are offered, as well as seedlings in the amount of more than 45 thousand pieces. Moreover, the saplings are available only by pre-orders from economic agents or individuals. In case of lack of demand, these trees will remain in nurseries, will continue to grow until replanting in forests or public places”.
This year, the pricing methodology remains unchanged and includes only the costs incurred by the forestry companies for the cultivation and care of Christmas symbols.
Also, the management of the department reminds that illegal felling of potentially Christmas trees entails not symbolic, but quite specific sanctions – fines from 50 to 100 U.S. dollars.
