Chisinau authorities will abandon the sanitary levy
The levy for sanitary cleaning of public spaces may be excluded from the list of local levies for 2026. Chisinau Mayor General Ion Ceban ordered to prepare the necessary documents for the meeting of the Municipal Council. It will be held on March 12 this year.
Although, according to him, the municipality needs this tax and the draft budget for 2026 included the revenues from this tax, Ceban urged the councilors to vote in favor of the 2026 budget, as well as the rates of local taxes without it.
The sanitation levy was levied from 2023-2024, and for 2025 it was eliminated by local government resolution.
Recall, the draft budget of the capital was developed at the end of last year, but after nine attempts to approve it in the municipal council failed. Although the mayor’s office organized consultations on the rates of local fees last year, they have not been approved yet either.
