The conference is organized by the National Bank of Belgium and focuses on the challenges facing the global economy and central banks beyond 2025.

Discussions focus on geopolitical fragmentation, the impact of climate change on financial stability and the future of monetary policy in a highly uncertain environment. Regulators plan to strengthen cooperation among European Central Banks and discuss strategies for adapting to new economic realities.

Ms. Dragoo participates in the panel discussions along with the heads of other central banks of the EU member states and candidate countries.

Bilateral Dialogue

The day before, Anca Dragu held a bilateral meeting with Gert Jan Koopman, Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Enlargement and the Eastern Neighborhood (DG Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood).

According to the NBM press service, the dialog was mainly focused on Moldova’s accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), the implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations in the context of preparations for the European Union (EU) accession, harmonization of the national legislation with the EU legislation and international standards, as well as macroeconomic trends and prospects of Moldova’s financial system.

During the meeting, Mrs. Anca Dragu appreciated the fruitful cooperation with the European Commission in the process of accession and participation in SEPA, stressing the direct, immediate and tangible economic impact of SEPA payments on citizens and business environment.

Previously, Anca Dragu repeatedly emphasized the importance of Moldova’s integration into the European financial area and the adjustment of the NBM standards to the EU requirements, which is the key topic of her international visits in 2025-2026.
