The bloc was created by political formations: The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, led by former President Igor Dodon, the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” (“Inima Moldovei”) led by former Bashkan of Gagauzia Irina Vlah and the party “Future of Moldova” (“Viitorul Moldovei”) of former Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev.
The bloc’s electoral symbol was also registered: a heart inside a five-pointed star.
It should be recalled that on July 22, the leaders of PSRM, PCRM, “Heart of Moldova” and “Future of Moldova” parties announced the decision to go to the elections as a single bloc. Last week, the Plenum of the PCRM Central Committee under the leadership of former President Vladimir Voronin adopted an official decision to participate in the formation of an electoral bloc and proposed its name: “Electoral Bloc of Communists, Socialists, Heart and Future of Moldova”. However, in the official decision of the Central Election Commission, the word “Communists” is absent in the name of the bloc, as well as the sickle and hammer in the symbols.
The CEC emphasizes that political parties that are part of the bloc are not entitled to apply for registration as separate electoral competitors in their own name.
“From the legal point of view, now each party in the bloc must prepare its list, agree it with its colleagues and submit the final version to the Central Election Commission,” Vasile Tarlev said.
This is the second bloc registered by the CEC to participate in the September 28 elections. On June 25, the electoral bloc “Alternative” was registered, created by the political party “National Alternative Movement” (MAN) of Chisinau Mayor General Ion Ceban, the “Party of Development and Unification of Moldova” (PDCM) of former Prime Minister Ion Cicu and the “Party of Collective Action – Civic Congress”.
According to the legislation, an electoral bloc is created on the basis of an agreement between two or more political parties registered with the State Services Agency. The decision of a party to participate in the creation of an electoral bloc must be recorded in a protocol approved in accordance with the statute of the formation. The deadline for submitting applications for registration of an electoral bloc is August 13.
