As the National Crisis Management Center reported Saturday night, “This decision is necessary to ensure the continuous supply of food, humanitarian aid and other goods for the war-affected population, as well as to keep the logistics chains running. A complete blockage of the routes could have a negative impact on the humanitarian and economic situation in the region.”
“The Republic of Moldova supports these efforts within the framework of regional solidarity, involving all relevant agencies involved in the process in coordination. State authorities ensure the controlled direction of traffic flows, apply strict customs and security measures, and constantly cooperate with the Ukrainian side to avoid major traffic jams and reduce the impact on internal traffic. At the same time, measures are taken to protect road infrastructure, maintain public order and ensure security at the border,” the center said.
To support Ukrainian citizens, a temporary mobile camp has been set up near the border, where humanitarian aid and initial necessary support is provided.
As additional measures to maintain transportation and logistics in the region, Ukrzaliznytsia has assigned additional trains from Odessa and Kiev to Chisinau for uninterrupted passenger traffic. This was announced by Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Rehabilitation of Ukraine and Minister of Community and Territory Development.
He also noted that the passage for emergency services, food cargoes, postal carriers and other urgent transportation is fully ensured. “Ukrposhta” timely delivers parcels, pensions and social payments.
“At present there are alternative routes of transport communication, which allow to maintain both border logistics and communication of the region with other regions”, – specified the Minister of the neighboring country.
