The head of the group of German military experts, Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Lotze, was presented on October 6 during a meeting between Defense Minister Anatolii Nosatii and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chisinau.
The mission’s consultants will analyze the country’s defense potential based on the provisions of the intergovernmental agreement between Moldova and Germany, signed on May 15, 2025 in Berlin and ratified by the Moldovan parliament on July 10, 2025.
The government plans to approve the military strategy for the 2025-2035 period at its October 8 meeting. The draft contains a program of technological modernization, strengthening defence capabilities and bringing them in line with European and international standards.
Among the priorities are the development of air surveillance and air defense systems, cyber defense and electronic warfare, strengthening special operations forces, improving training and logistical support. Modernization of command, control and communication systems, expansion of the army’s role in managing internal crises and participation in ensuring regional security are also envisaged.
In parallel with modernization, the government plans a gradual increase in funding. “The defense budget will not be less than the current one, which is about 2 billion lei,” Defense Minister Anatolii Nosatii said.
