The information about it was spread on February 10 by Bloomberg agency with reference to sources familiar with internal processes in the ruling party.

According to the publication, although the topic of the successor to the current president is not officially discussed, the name of Bilal Erdogan is increasingly being mentioned in political circles. In recent months, his public activity has noticeably increased: he regularly appears in the media space, participates in public events and demonstrates his readiness for a more active role in politics.

The party is not against

Bloomberg sources claim that informal consultations are currently underway within the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) to expand Bilal’s political influence. They are talking about gradually strengthening his position – forming a circle of supporters in party and state structures, as well as participating in personnel decisions.

According to the scenario under discussion, if Recep Tayyip Erdoğan or his political team retains power, Bilal could first assume the post of AKP head and then receive the post of vice president, which would allow him to participate directly in the country’s governance.

There have been no official statements about such plans either from the presidential administration or from Bilal Erdogan himself. Nevertheless, experts note that the strengthening of his public and political presence may indicate a long-term strategy of preparation for a possible transit of power.
