The highest award, the Grand Gold Medal, was awarded to nine wines:
- Domeniile Davidescu – Cabernet Sauvignon & Fetească Neagră 2021
- Vinuri de Comrat – Saregavi Bastardo Plai 2015
- DIVUS Winery – ORNIS 2019
- Gogu Winery – Metafora 2022
- Radacini Wines – Fiori Fetească Neagră 2019
- Cricova – Fetească Neagră Vin de colecție 2015
- Apriori Maestro Secret Blend 2022
- Crama Mircești – Cuvee Rouge 2020
- Vinăria Javgur – Mariage Rouge 2021.
These wines surpassed the 93-point threshold, being recognized for their complexity and sophistication.
The competition was organized in accordance with the norms of the International Organization of Viticulture and Winemaking (OIV), but the wines were evaluated on an even stricter scale than that used in international competitions. Wines that received between 89 and 92.99 points were awarded the Gold Medal, and those that exceeded 93 points were awarded the Grand Gold Medal.
The 2025 competition was judged by a jury of 12 international experts from 10 countries, including Masters of Wine, enologists and university professors. They were joined by 13 local experts who were appointed to mixed commissions formed according to OIV standards.
They conducted a blind evaluation of more than 300 samples, ranging from still and sparkling wines to vinous wines, complex blends and divines, focusing on both local and European varieties.
The national Wine of Moldova Contest is aimed at promoting Moldovan wine and recognizing producers who contribute to the development of the country’s image as a leading wine producing region. The contest is organized by the National Office of Viticulture and Vine-growing (ONVV) with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and in partnership with the Association of Producers of Wines with Protected Geographical Indications and other professional organizations in the field.
