Customs officers of the Chisinau International Airport, in cooperation with border guards, stopped an attempt to illegally export a large amount of foreign currency.
The case was initiated after a specialized inspection of passengers on the Chisinau – Yerevan route.
During the control, the behavior of one of the passengers aroused suspicion, so the joint team conducted a thorough physical search.
As a result, cash in the amount of $60,000 was found hidden in specially prepared pockets of clothes for illegal transportation across the border.
The case also involved a 66-year-old non-resident man.
The funds were seized and the case was handed over to the criminal investigation department of the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova for investigation.
