Artyom Roshka became vice-champion of Europe in taekwondo

Moldovan athlete Artyom Rosca won a silver medal at the WTF (World Taekwon-Do Federation) European Junior Taekwondo Championship, held in Egle (Switzerland), - reports Logos Press.

Roshka became the second in the competition in the weight category up to 51 kg. In the course of the tournament, he defeated athletes from Sweden, Azerbaijan, and a representative of Russia, who competed in a neutral status. In the decisive fight, the Moldovan taekwondist lost to Hairo Agenjo. The bronze medals were won by Andreas Lepape (France) and Novruz Aliyev (Azerbaijan).

In Roşca’s sporting career, the medal was the second at the continental junior championships and the third at such high-level championships. In 2023, Vladislav Mazur’s ward became the bronze medalist of the European Junior Championships in Tallinn (Estonia), and last year in Chungcheong (South Korea) – vice-champion of the world junior championships. He also won open tournaments among cadets in Warsaw (Poland), Bucharest (Romania), Riga (Latvia) and among juniors in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Bucharest.

WTF Taekwondo has been an Olympic sport since 2000, when it was officially included in the program of the Games in Sydney (Australia).
