Advanced science will get a chance for funding through the Orizont Europa program

The first component of the program is “Advanced Science”. The event directly addresses the question of how research infrastructures will support innovation in the European Union over the next decade.

В Work Program Orizont Europa for 2026 provides funding for projects with a total budget of EUR 294.9 million. Moldovan scientists and research centers can also apply for participation in the program, the relevant announcement is posted on the website of the National Agency for Research and Development.

It stresses that the information day, organized on the European Commission’s Research and Innovation Community platform, marks the beginning of the preparation of project proposals for the 2026-2027 Work Programme.

Which areas will be funded

The strategic directions for the development of research infrastructures are as follows:

INFRADEV (Strengthening the European landscape): The central objective is to develop and optimize existing infrastructures to support Europe’s global leadership. The focus is on sustainable development and implementation of the ESFRI (European Strategic Forum for Research Infrastructures) roadmap.

INFRAEOSC (Digitalization and Open Science): An important component aiming at operationalizing the European Open Science Cloud ecosystem. The aim is to create a data environment compliant with FAIR principles (accessibility, interoperability, reuse) that will allow researchers to access computational resources and large databases across borders.

INFRASERV (Services for Solving Global Challenges): This area is perhaps the most “journalistic” in terms of its direct impact. Funding will support transnational access to state-of-the-art facilities to accelerate the green transition, digital transformation, and health research.

INFRATECH (Emerging Technologies): Focuses on co-creation with industry to develop new scientific tools and advanced digital solutions for infrastructure development in the 4.0 era.

An important point for applicants is the use of support tools such as RICH Europe (network of national contact points), which offers “Proposal Validation” services to increase the competitiveness of projects.

The information day will take place exclusively online on March 18, 2026 and will include question and answer sessions where potential participants can clarify specific aspects regarding the selection criteria and the evaluation process.
