A quarter of the funds of the “Europe Next Door” program have already been disbursed

Projects under the program "Europe Nearby", through which the modernization of local roads is financed, continue to be implemented in many settlements of the republic. In February, 74 road repair projects were financed under this program. One project, in Ciorescu commune, Chisinau mun. Chisinau, has been completed. This is evidenced by the data provided by the National Bureau of Regional and Local Development.

It is also noted that the government allocated a total sum of 99 million lei for these works through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FONRMD).

In total, more than 357 million lei from the above-mentioned fund have been allocated so far for the implementation of 353 projects under the “Europe next door” program for the repair of local roads.

The total budget of these works exceeds 1.68 billion lei, of which 10 per cent or 168 million lei is the contribution of the local public authorities.

Also within this program, in February, a project of road infrastructure renovation was completed in the Ciorescu mun. Chisinau, which has about 7,413 inhabitants. The project envisaged the improvement of access roads and pedestrian areas to several public institutions, including the Theoretical Lyceum named after Nicolae Bălcescu. Nicolae Balcescu Theoretical Lyceum, Gymnasium No. 45, the Public Library and the Ciorescu Youth Center.

The National Fund for Regional and Local Development allocated 3.35 million lei for these works. This money was used to repair a 1.2 km long road pavement.
