    At the 144th session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), held in the closed resort of Costa Navarino in Greece, 41-year-old Kirsty Coventry from Zimbabwe was elected the new president of the organization by secret ballot. She became the first woman in the history of the IOC to be elected to this position.

    The Executive Committee of the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF) has approved the distribution of funds allocated to clubs from the Union of European Football Federations (UEFA) Sports Solidarity Fund. The amount of €4 million 900 thousand will be distributed among the clubs playing in the Super League and Ligue 1.

    At the 1st stage of the Biathlon World Cup in Kontiolahti, Finland, Alina Stremous, representing the Republic of Moldova, took 15th place in the sprint race and 18th place in the mass start. These results are the best performances since the 2022 Winter Olympics in the career of the 29-year-old athlete in competitions among the elite of the world biathlon. She did, however, win a gold medal in the pursuit at the 2022 European Championships. But the level of competitors in that tournament is much lower compared to the World Cup, which runs from November through March, and the World Championships, which will be hosted by Switzerland’s Lenzerheide in February 2025.

    The total value of the first 10 most expensive Moldovan footballers is €10.35 million. Only two of them play in the Moldovan Super League, more precisely in Petrocube from Hincesti. The rest of the participants of the rating defend the colors of foreign clubs.
