The position of former Finance Minister Viktoria Belous in this respect was positive. “In 2016-2018, local authorities were allocated funds under the SARD (Support to Agriculture and Rural Development) program,” recalls Maria Pascova from Vinimpex Holding (Tvarditsa, Taraclia district). – This is an EU initiative implemented by UNDP in the villages of Gagauzia and Taraclia district. It supported entrepreneurship to create new jobs and develop the agribusiness sector”.
Then the rules of the game changed and the mayor’s office had to find funds and add them to continue the project. But Taraclia received a Le 4 million grant from the Ministry of Finance to complete the SARD. “There is a similar fund in Gagauzia,” she continues. – Although now, since the budget is formed differently, and it is difficult there with funds for contributions. Today, this fund amounts to about 20 million lei with a budget of 1.5 billion lei.”
The issue arose in connection with the launch of the new project “EURoBRIDGE_UA_MD” on Wednesday, November 5. During the presentation, the Taraclia district council signed a cooperation agreement with the Artsiz gramada in Odessa Region.
Taraclia District Chairman Lazar Dermenzhi said that within the framework of the project, the district hopes to finish the repair of the Basarabeasca – Ceadir Lugnga road. “This road is in white variant, we want to asphalt it,” he explained. – The section will shorten the distance to the capital to 100 kilometers. And it will revitalize the Basarabeasca district, because there are jobs for its residents in Tvarditsa.
– The fund for contributions is necessary,” the chairman continues. – We are short of funds. For example, we are involved in another cross-border project, and Bulgaria provided us with a contribution for it. We need state support if we want to develop. As for possible corruption, European funds are seriously controlled. Every step is checked before the money is deposited in the account.
