
The National Health Insurance Company (NHIC), along with other state institutions, has fallen under suspicion of illegal use of public funds. The Chamber of Accounts sent relevant materials to law enforcement agencies.
The NCMS reporting on the management of medical insurance expenses has for the first time fallen under suspicion of a crime. It concerns treatment and prescription of compensated medicines to persons who are not alive. Also, it is about significant imputations by medical service providers about the number of treated cases and other violations, which resulted in unjustified payments from the budget of insurance funds in 2024, which are managed by the company.
Also under suspicion were:
– Ministry of Culture – regarding the management of funds for the construction of the new building of the music and drama theater “BP Hașdeu” in Cahul;
– Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry – procedures for the purchase of diesel fuel by the State Research Institute of Field Crops “Selekcija”;
– Ministry of Justice – reconstruction of the security perimeter of correctional institution No. 7 in Rusca v., as well as works on the reconstruction of the security perimeter and improvement of the territory of correctional institution No. 10 in Goian v;
– Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development – possible unlawful actions with non-utilization of the allocated funds for capital investments for the restoration of the embankment of the railway line at 74 km Cahul – Giurgiulesti (Valeni village).
The communes of Paschani, Truseni, Costeşti village, Soldanesti, Donduseni, Drochia towns are suspected of illegal management of budgetary funds and state assets.
Two criminal cases have already been initiated against the Ministry of Culture. The rest of the materials are still in the process of gathering evidence. This includes departmental administrative investigations.
