
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, their exclusion from the list of socially important products will allow producers of bio-products to form the added value in accordance with the real costs. This measure will stimulate local processing and support the formed eco-assortment.
According to the Atlas of Organic Agriculture, about 150 organic producers are registered in Moldova. At the same time, some of the companies were certified based on EU regulations, but without being registered in Moldova, and some – based on domestic law, but not complying with EU regulations. Almost all of these operators believe that certification in accordance with European standards allows them to sell products labeled “Eco”, “Bio” or “Orcanic”.
In Moldova, organic grains, vegetables, nuts, fruits and essential oil plants are mainly grown. Also organic winemaking is practiced by a Moldovan winemaker. About 90% of bio-products that are certified by foreign authorities are exported. Eco-certified fruits and vegetables are exported to the domestic market.
The export range includes nuts, lavender, lavender oil, dried plum, corn, sunflower, peas, wheat, which are supplied to Holland, Italy, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland Austria, Romania.
Bio-products for the domestic market are sold 15-20% more expensive than similar goods without ecological labeling.
