The 20-year-old wrestler defeated Magomed Emi-Eltemirov of Russia for the gold medal in the 70 kg weight category.

Confident road to victory

On his way to the big final, Gaidarly eliminated Goga Otinashvili (Georgia), Ramik Kheibatov (Azerbaijan) and Nikita Sariyev (Ukraine) from the list of championship candidates, leaving his rivals no chance.

The bronze medalists were Davit Margaryan (Armenia) and Kheybatov.

Highest achievement in career

Haydarly became European champion for the first time in his career. Last year he became a silver medalist World Championship among athletes under 20 years old in Samokov (Bulgaria). At the world championship among older competitors – up to 23 years old – he was third.

More than 400 athletes from almost 30 countries are participating in the World Youth Championships, with 30 sets of medals to be won.
