Dumitru Verdianu
Verdianu is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Grand Gold Medal for sculpture at Le Monde de la Cullture et des Arts in Cannes. His works are included in the collections of state art museums in Russia, Moldova, Austria and other countries. They are also kept in private collections of collectors in many countries
The famous sculptor is a native of Ungheni. He was educated at the Leningrad Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, as well as at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. He is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, Moldova and Austria.
In his work Verdianu organically combines classical traditions with modernity. He is known for his monumental works, installed in public places in many cities, as well as chamber sculptures, which are characterized by deep psychology and a fine sense of material. He has many stylized forms pointing to the heavens.
The sculptor opened the original Sculpture Park in the Artists’ Village of St. Petersburg, where his studio is located.
The art museum features 47 works, also graphic and pictorial. Verdianu does not consider himself a painter: “It is my desire to express myself in color, because sculpture is somewhat monotonous in this respect, while painting allows you to play with color”.
